South Korea: Night owl's first escapade abroad
My first ever trip abroad was to South Korea. It was a dream of mine to go travel abroad and see other places and experience other culture and observe how it differs to my culture. Going to South Korea, I was able to have a very memorable and informative abroad trip. Some places we explored were Seoul, Namsan Tower, Gangnam, Han River, Hongdae Night Market, Nami Island, different shopping districts and markets and the boundary between South and North Korea.
We also went to skiing sites and the famous amusement park, Everland. The tour was very satisfactory and informative. The commute to each place is very different here in the Philippines. The food was also slightly different tasting but I think there are dishes that suits the Philippine cuisine.
I would definitely want to come back there and spend more time exploring the night markets!
South Korea: The food and culture
The food serving there is different and the table manners that we have here in the Ph is different too. However, I found some similarities within our taste in food as well as the table manners.
Similarities: Since it's an Asian country they mostly serve rice with other dishes too. They say a little mantra or prayer before they eat. They have a dish there called "Galbitang" which very much taste like Bulalo here in the Ph. They also like grilling meat very much like how we do barbeque here in the Ph.
Difference:They serve a lot of side dishes along with the main dish itself. They always have "Kimchi" served which is pickled cabbage with other spices. They have a lot of spices which we aren't familiar with like "Gochujang" which is spicy bean paste and "Doenjang" too.
Before the Samgyupsal craze started here in the Philippines, I've had the pleasure to experience it first hand in Korea. We had Samgyupsal right after our Nami Island Tour. It's very familiar whenever we have BBQ party here in PH.
The culture we have is different from what we have here. In their Government they have a President and a Prime Minister which both act as powerful leaders.
Their genre of "K-pop" which definitely became very famous (I'm a fan btw) was also one of the assets of South Korea.
Their education structure is also different from us, well, that was before we had the K-12 system, although it is still different somehow, it is much more similar now.
